The land on which the farm is on today was once part of the estate and orchard to the “White House” in the village of Dane End, Hertfordshire. Which was once owned by the son of the Prime Minister W E Gladstone. The Christmas tree farm was established in the early 1980s by a Mr William Ives, who originally farmed pigs on the land, but due to ill health sold the farm to us the current owners.
Our first Christmas was a real eye-opener regarding the extent of the physical work that was required. Cutting, lifting, displaying, wrapping and finally carrying the Christmas trees to your car in all-weather conditions. We now relish the opportunity to share this most wonderful time of the year with you.
Since owning the farm we have cleared the vast majority of the overgrown trees creating log walls for insects and other wildlife. We now plant trees every year and we love the challenge and rewards that come with being a Christmas tree grower. We are proud to be a member of The British Christmas Growers Association and have become an active board member.
We sell our trees directly to the public, offering a service second to none. From pulling up in our large car park, the whole family (and the dog) are welcome to walk around our large floodlit sales area enjoying a hot drink and seasonal snack from our café. We never grow tired of the looks and laughter on your faces as you wander around looking for that perfect tree. To complement the trees is a range of Christmas tree stands, handmade wreaths and seasonal gifts in our shop.
Once the Christmas festivities are over. Our customers are welcome to return their trees and we will recycle them in an eco-friendly way, producing mulch for our pumpkins.
Our services are available not only at Christmas. We provide reals trees all year round for events such as film, television programmes, parties, weddings, photo shoots to name but a few.
We look forward to seeing you again. If you are a new customer please come and try this unique and individual way of getting your Christmas tree, it will soon become your new family Christmas tradition.
